Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced cardiopulmonary care to pediatric patients, including general pediatrics and PICU populations. The therapist utilizes scientific principles, therapies, and clinical techniques to optimize patient outcomes in both routine and critical care settings.




Required Qualifications

  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

  • RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner)

  • BLS (AHA)

  • PALS (AHA)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general pediatrics and PICU

  • Current applicable state licensure

Preferred:

  • NBRC NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist)




Key Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory care services including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medications, airway clearance, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and bedside spirometry as ordered by physicians

  • Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situations

  • Review physician orders, evaluate diagnostic results, and implement appropriate therapy based on patient condition

  • Perform both routine and advanced respiratory procedures while prioritizing care in a fast-paced environment

  • Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment and therapy techniques

  • Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust care as needed

  • Accurately document treatments, therapies, and supplies used

  • Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and hospital policies

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
