Job Description:
Summary:
• This position is in Engineering Projects and is focused on capacity additions and associated line installations & debug from a mechanical perspective.
• Lead and/or participate in manufacturing engineering projects, supporting teams for capacity installations, equipment debug, and preparing lines/associated parts for Operations Receivership.
• Provide advanced mechanical expertise to proactively identify technical problems through root cause analysis and implement robust industrialized solutions related to line debug and installations.
• Leverage knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering, machining, and design processes to improve equipment and manufacturing performance.
• Lead/support development and execution of project plans to deliver timely, error-free mechanical support for multi-line equipment installations.
• Work alongside vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues while protecting Product, timing, and cost metrics.
• Collaborate across functional groups and utilize best practices to accomplish goals.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Maintain safe work practices and inform others of hazardous conditions or behaviors.
• Manage and lead installation and debugging activities to meet milestone and timeline objectives for capacity additions.
• Design and implement mechanical solutions and process changes to improve manufacturing equipment capability.
• Solve mechanical and process issues through data analysis, experience, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment (e.g., pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics).
• Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems after installation.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and repair.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Manage spare part identification and storeroom entry as recommended by suppliers or peer engineers, noting available spares within the two-plant footprint.
• Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
• Support training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operational changes.
• Collaborate with other departments to implement process improvements.
Qualifications
Required Education:
• Associate degree
• High School degree will be considered with significant hands-on experience
Required Years and Area of Experience:
• 3+ years’ experience in new equipment installations in a manufacturing environment (start-up experience a plus)
• Experience in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple priorities
Required Skills:
• Strong technical fundamentals with mechanical engineering skills
• Expertise in mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, and conveyor systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently in a fast-paced project installation manufacturing environment
• Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
• Proficiency with PC software including Microsoft Office Suite and basic CMMS systems
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in an industrial setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Certifications:
• Mechatronics trades highly desired
• Relevant mechanical or industrial certifications (e.g., Millwright, HVAC, or Welding) are a plus
• OSHA or other safety certifications may be required
Desired Skills:
• Hands-on experience in commercial manufacturing equipment
• Project leadership/management experience (including milestone management and financial ownership)
• Experience in vendor/supplier management (on-site/off-site)
• Experience with CAD
• Detail-oriented and able to perform with limited supervision
Soft Skills:
• Leadership experience in technical project management
• Ability to effectively collaborate within a team
• Ability to allocate and supervise resources to accomplish aggressive project milestones within specification and cost
• Ability to shift tasks quickly and prioritize effectively
Travel Requirements:
• Project locations range from Newton, NC to Hickory, NC.

• 40 hours per week (overtime expected). Due to project timing, overtime and periodic off-hours coverage may be necessary to complete workload and interact with team personnel.
