IT Resource Manager
Job Location: Boston, MA
Job Duration: 6 Months (possibility of extension)
Payrate: $71.50/ hr. on w2
Job Summary:
- Seeking local candidate for occasional in-person working sessions. Mostly Remote.
- The IT Resource Manager is responsible for the strategic allocation of human capital across the IT organization.
- You will manage the Supply vs. Demand of labor, ensuring that technical staff are assigned to the highest-priority initiatives.
- You will identify talent gaps, manage staff utilization rates, and balance the workload between Run (keeping the hospital systems stable) and Build (new projects and innovations).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prioritization Frameworks: Partner with the PMO to lead the intake process, helping IT score requests based on factors including patient safety, regulatory compliance, and ROI.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain the "Demand Forecast"— the database of upcoming projects, maintenance requirements, and other IT resourcing needs.
- Resource Modeling: Work with IT leads to determine the labor and capital required to fulfill incoming requests.
- Resource Allocation: Partner with IT managers to assign IT staff to projects and strategic initiatives based on their skills, availability, and project priority.
- Capacity vs. Capability Analysis: Develop models to determine not just if we have enough people, but the resources with the right skills (e.g., Epic-certified analysts or HL7 integration specialists).
- Utilization Tracking: Monitor burn rates to ensure staff aren't over-allocated which leads to errors in critical hospital systems and employee turnover.
- Skill Gap Mapping: Work with HR and IT leadership to identify necessary training for the team to support emerging technologies.
Experience Requirements:

5+ years in IT Resource Management, Workforce Planning, or Project Management Office (PMO).
Healthcare Context:
-
Understanding of the on-call nature of hospital IT and the specialized skill sets required for clinical application support.
Tooling:
-
Expertise in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software (e.g., ServiceNow, Workfront, or Smartsheet) for tracking labor hours and allocations.
Data Fluency:

Ability to visualize which teams are over-leveraged and which have bench time.
