Duration: 3 Months+ (Possibilities of Extension)

Pay Range: $75/hr. on W2

Schedule Notes:

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 4x10s, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM plus call from 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM during the week.
• Weekend call: 7:00 AM Saturday – 7:00 AM Monday.
• Call shifts require 30-minute response time for emergency cases.
• Minimum 1 year Cath Lab experience required, including ability to scrub and x-ray procedures.

 
Job Description:
The Cardiovascular Technologist - H&V Specialist will provide continuous, comprehensive care to adult and geriatric invasive cardiology and invasive peripheral and angiography patients, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills in compliance with standards of care and customer service standards. Performs angiographic procedures including invasive vascular treatments and examinations at a technical level consistent with optimal image quality. Care is based on the Client's model of care promoting partnership between patients, families, and healthcare teams. The care is culturally based and age specific.
 
Job Responsibilities:

• Understand signs, symptoms, and data related to patient's presenting needs.
• Recognize and appropriately report to the physician and charge RN pertinent abnormal data and changes in patient condition.
• Utilize appropriate handoff methods to collaborate with healthcare team members and communicate physiological and psychological patient data.
• Assess patient, family, and environment for safety risks; proactively perform safety initiatives.
• Provide ongoing, individualized holistic patient and family education with the multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate critical thinking when reviewing physician orders, making referrals, and contacting health professionals.
• Respond to emergency situations with immediate, controlled, skillful precision.
• Implement infection control measures using appropriate protective devices and equipment.
• Function as scrub assistant to cardiologist/radiologist using sterile techniques; assist in diagnostic/interventional cath lab procedures.
• Set up sterile trays and specialized equipment according to procedure.
• Maintain hemostasis post-procedure using compression or closure devices; recognize and correct insertion site problems.
• Maintain competency in arterial and venous sheath removal and groin management.
• Follow department policies on radiation safety during x-ray use.
• Provide radiation protection to patients, self, and others using lead aprons, gloves, and gonadal shielding.
• Screen females of childbearing age for possible pregnancy.
• Wear radiation dosimetry badges, exchange monthly, and review/sign dosimetry reports.

 
Required Skills & Experience:

• 1-2 years previous experience in the field.
• Good understanding of cardiovascular and peripheral anatomy to support stimulator role during complex ablations.
• Meet individual education and training requirements.
• Participate in on-call coverage as required.
• High professionalism and ability to build good relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
• Able to perform duties with minimal supervision.

MUST HAVE IMPELLA DEVICE EXPERIENCE.

• Preferred: Peripheral vascular, structural heart, experience in larger value hospitals.
• ACLS preferred but not required.
• Must upload proof of an Ohio Radiologic License within 7 days of accepting offer or offer may be rescinded.
