Phlebotomist II - 1st Shift
Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Location: Newburgh, NY 12550
Job Duration: 3 Months of contract
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; alternate Saturdays 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Pay range: $21.80/hr. on W2
Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients during routine visits or critical healthcare decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens and ensuring accurate preparation for laboratory testing while adhering to established procedures. The PSR II fosters a professional, respectful, and trustworthy environment by clearly explaining procedures and delivering safe, accurate, and efficient phlebotomy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens following standard procedures.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections with precision, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the patient’s presence, including obtaining patient signatures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company standards.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and colleagues.
- Exhibit leadership behaviors and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Travel to multiple locations and provide coverage as needed with minimal notice.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.
- Ability to adapt to change and handle multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if applicable).
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, WA).
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center preferred.
- Prior customer service and data entry experience preferred.
