Job Title: Surgical Technologist Certified - DAYS
Job Location: Santa Fe, NM
Job Duration: 2-3 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: 6:30AM - 3:00PM

Surgical Services/Patient Care Division

• An integral member of the surgical team who provides support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred.

Required Certification & Licensure:

• BLS certification required from AHA.
• Surgical Tech certification required.

Required Skills & Experience:

• One or more years experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.
• Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment.
• Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.

Responsible to:

• Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services.
• Bloodborne Pathogens C.
• Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know.
• Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals.
• Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital.
• Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.

Physical Demands:

• Heavy physical effort requiring standing, walking or lifting most of the day.
• Requires ability to speak, hear and communicate verbal and written materials.
