ENTRY Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Entry Phlebotomist I (PSR I – Patient Service Representative I)
Location: Aventura, FL
Assignment Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Saturday: 6:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Job Summary
The Entry Phlebotomist I (PSR I) is a patient-facing role focused on delivering exceptional customer service while assisting patients with the check-in process and maintaining a welcoming lobby environment. This is an entry-level position into phlebotomy, ideal for individuals with strong customer service skills who are eager to learn and grow within the healthcare field.
The role begins primarily as a Lobby Greeter/Patient Service Representative, supporting patients upon arrival and helping them feel comfortable and informed while waiting for their lab services. With training and hands-on experience, the individual will develop phlebotomy skills and gradually take on specimen collection duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival and provide compassionate, professional assistance
- Assist patients with check-ins using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets
- Answer patient questions and explain what to expect during their scheduled procedures
- Maintain the integrity, cleanliness, and organization of the lobby and waiting areas
- Provide coverage during breaks when other phlebotomists are unavailable
- Ensure patient confidentiality and accuracy of patient information at all times
- Maintain required records and documentation accurately and on time
- Follow all safety, compliance, and professional standards
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and train in phlebotomy skills
- Once trained, confidently perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing
- Represent the organization positively to patients, clients, employees, and the public
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED – no exceptions)
- Minimum 1–2 years of client-facing customer service experience (retail, hospitality, home health aide, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of customer service focus
- Keyboard and data entry skills required
- Ability to handle patients with care, compassion, and professionalism
Preferred / Additional Information
- Prior phlebotomy experience is NOT required
- Candidates must be willing to learn phlebotomy skills as part of the role
- This position is not suitable for individuals seeking only a front-desk or greeter role
- Growth into phlebotomy responsibilities is a key expectation of this position
