Schedule: Monday to Friday (No weekends or holidays)
Shift Hours: Varying shifts between 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Start times between 7 AM and 12 PM; end times between 3 PM and 8 PM)
Assignment Duration: 2 months
Union Position: Yes
Hourly rate: $21/hour on W2 Negotiable
Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant supports patient care and clerical operations in a fast-paced Urology department. This role includes both clinical and administrative duties, ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and a safe clinical environment.

Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant supports patient care and clerical operations in a fast-paced Urology department. This role includes both clinical and administrative duties, ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and a safe clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, collect and process specimens, and assist with point-of-care testing.
 - Support patient mobility: escorting to exam rooms, assisting with dressing, walking, or transferring.
 - Assist physicians with procedures; take vital signs and relay instructions to patients/families.
 - Prepare and sterilize examination rooms and instruments following infection control policies.
 - Check and log medication refrigeration, point-of-care tests, and sterilization procedures.
 - Monitor medication and supply expiration dates and dispose of them according to the policy.
 - Comply with PPE standards and exposure safety protocols.
 - May be required to perform proficient phlebotomy.
 
- Manage patient records (retrieve/send medical records, lab reports, hospital notes, etc.).
 - Complete forms, requisitions, and maintain chart accuracy (paper or EMR).
 - Enter orders or prescription refill requests into the EMR for physician approval.
 - Schedule appointments and procedures, including surgeries and pre-admission documentation.
 - Update patient demographic and insurance details; verify and pre-certify as needed.
 - Maintain inventory and reorder supplies.
 
- Education: High School Diploma/GED
 - Training: Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate course
 - Certifications:
	
- Required: BLS Certification (AHA)
 - Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
 
 
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office Suite
 - Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA regulations
 - Effective communication, especially with multicultural or language-deficit patients
 - Strong interpersonal skills and excellent telephone etiquette
 - Adaptability to a dynamic, fast-paced environment
 - EMR or medical billing experience preferred, but not required
