Pharmacy Technician
Location: Austin, TX
Schedule: Night Shift | 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Rotation: 7 on / 7 off (days variable)




Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation, compounding, repackaging, filling, and delivery of medications for patients ranging from newborns to adults. The role supports safe and accurate medication dispensing, including controlled substance management, in compliance with hospital and departmental standards.




Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation, compounding, repackaging, and dispensing of medications

  • Support procurement, storage, record-keeping, and distribution of controlled substances

  • Accurately enter patient diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area into the system

  • Follow aseptic technique and infection control standards for sterile product preparation

  • Complete annual aseptic technique recertification with a minimum score of 90%

  • Ensure medication accuracy as verified by the pharmacist

  • Perform batch, medication, and prescription order entry

  • Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies

  • Apply dilution and expiration dating labels per department standards after pharmacist verification




Requirements

  • IV Certification (required)

  • Recent clean room experience (required)

  • Knowledge of hospital and departmental pharmaceutical handling standards

  • Strong math, reading, and communication skills

  • Ability to operate equipment used in sterile product preparation
