Job Description – Phlebotomist I
Location: Venice, FL
Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Rotating Saturdays
Duration: 4+ Months (Possible Extension)
As a Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I, responsible for representing the organization with professionalism while providing highquality specimen collection services. Perform clinical and forensic blood draws, ensure accurate specimen preparation, and maintain a safe, patientfocused environment. Build trust with patients by explaining procedures clearly and performing collections with skill, accuracy, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen-processing duties accurately, safely, and in accordance with established procedures.
- Collect highquality blood samples from diverse patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment while adhering to all safety and confidentiality standards.
- Utilize LIS/computer systems for data entry, order verification, recordkeeping, and documentation management.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service by creating a supportive, confident atmosphere for patients.
- Follow leadership behaviors, organizational policies, and process excellence standards.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Support team and staffing needs with flexibility for weekends, holidays, overtime, and rotating schedules.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high productivity and reliability.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required.
- Must have reliable personal transportation and be consistently punctual with excellent attendance.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent – Required
- Medical assistant or paramedic training – Preferred
- Phlebotomy certification – Preferred (Required only in CA, NV, WA)
Experience
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required
- 1+ year phlebotomy experience preferred
- Customer service or retail experience preferred
