Phlebotomist I - 1st Shift
Job Title: Phlebotomist I - 1st Shift
Job Location: Plainview NY
Duration: 3+ months of Contract with (temp-to-hire)
Shift: Mon-Fri 8am-3pm, rotational Saturday 6am-12pm
Payrate: $21.00/ hr. on w2
Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the frontline representative of the company, interacting directly with patients during routine healthcare visits or important health-related decisions.
- The PSR I is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- This role requires professionalism, accuracy, and compassion to build trust and confidence with patients while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Specimen Collection:
- Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing following established procedures.
- Draw blood specimens in a safe, accurate, and skillful manner.
- Provide phlebotomy services for pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients to ensure comfort and understanding.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence.
Professional Standards:
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Promote a positive company image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Proficient with straight needle usage and EMR computer systems.
Availability:

Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
- Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
Additional Information:
- Must be capable of using a straight needle and EMR systems.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures is required.
