Schedule: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours: 40 hours/week | 8 hours/day
Job Description
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for promoting pharmaceutical care by managing the medication-use process, identifying and preventing potential drug-related problems, and resolving actual drug-related issues. This role performs all duties of a registered pharmacist in accordance with Hospital standards, providing developmentally appropriate care for patients ranging from neonatal to adult populations.
Responsibilities

Verify appropriateness of medication therapy based on diagnosis, weight/body surface area, allergies, and potential drug interactions

Accurately enter and verify medication orders in the pharmacy system

Ensure correct medication dispensing and timely dose delivery per established guidelines

Monitor and prevent medication errors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards

Prepare sterile products using aseptic technique and infection control practices

Enforce aseptic technique and infection control standards among pharmacy staff

Maintain annual aseptic technique certification with a minimum 90% competency score
Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required

Active, unrestricted RPH license – State of Texas (required)

Minimum 2+ years of hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred (medication preparation focus)

20 hours of sterile compounding training accredited by ACPE or ASHP preferred

Demonstrated competency in sterile product preparation and medication safety
-
Licensed practitioner authorized to perform clinical pharmacy activities
