Certifications Required:

• BLS (AHA only)
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• TMB (Texas Medical Board)

 
Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of radiologic technologist experience
• Must be proficient and confident in a busy Level I Trauma Emergency Department

Job Summary:
Under general supervision of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as ordered for diagnosis of disease and injury, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality radiology procedures in a timely manner following exam protocols.
• Understand and monitor radiation dose reference levels and take appropriate action when limits are exceeded.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and families using AIDET techniques.
• Prepare patients and equipment for procedures, ensuring proper positioning and exposure settings.
• Maintain radiation safety, infection control, sterile technique, and hand hygiene standards.
• Keep imaging equipment and work areas clean and fully operational; coordinate with engineers and physicists as needed.
• Screen individuals entering the department per approved policies.
• Maintain and verify accurate documentation such as patient history, requisitions, consents, and shielding precautions.
• Maintain medical imaging records according to departmental policies and standards.
• Provide first aid and emergency response when necessary.
• Ensure patient satisfaction by minimizing wait times, providing courteous service, and remaining professional under stress.
• Serve as preceptor to train new staff and support new initiatives.
• Take call if required.
