Job Summary:
We are seeking a professional and enthusiastic Customer Service Representative to support our healthcare call center operations. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for patients, family members, and external parties — answering calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring a positive experience with each interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professionally handle inbound calls and electronic requests from patients and families.
- Register new patients accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Schedule healthcare appointments based on provider orders, clinic availability, and patient preferences.
- Verify insurance or provide self-pay information and assist with financial counseling referrals.
- Communicate appointment details, required preparation, paperwork, and payment expectations.
- Write and relay clerical or clinical messages to the appropriate staff.
- Recognize and escalate urgent/emergent situations when needed.
- De-escalate emotionally charged calls with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and patient care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of call center or customer service experience required
- Typing/Data Entry: Strong computer navigation, typing, and multitasking skills
- Experience working in healthcare, hospital, or medical office settings a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous under pressure
- Stable work history – no frequent short-term roles (please note if contract-based)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with EMR systems and/or healthcare scheduling tools
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
- Experience interpreting physician orders and coordinating complex appointment types
Work Conditions:
- Temp-to-perm opportunity — potential FTE after 3–6 months
- Must be available onsite for the first 2 weeks of training
- Transition to remote work setup after training (must maintain reliable internet and home setup)
