The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and quality assurance throughout sterile processing operations. This role combines technical processing duties with detailed inspection and documentation to support patient safety, regulatory compliance, and process reliability.

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and quality assurance throughout sterile processing operations. This role combines technical processing duties with detailed inspection and documentation to support patient safety, regulatory compliance, and process reliability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Comply with ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company Work Instructions.
- Safely decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and infection control protocols.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments as required.
- Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets following established guidelines.
- Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment effectively and safely.
- Conduct quality control inspections of instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and signs of damage before packaging.
- Document missing, incomplete, or damaged instruments in accordance with SOPs.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory control.
- Ensure all instruments and customer-owned items are handled with care to avoid damage.
- Perform daily documentation and computer tasks related to quality control and instrument tracking.
- Monitor inventory and ensure appropriate levels of sterile supplies and instruments.
- Perform routine cleaning, testing, and maintenance of sterilization and inspection equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in processing and decontamination areas.
- Adhere to quality assurance programs and infection prevention practices.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams, operations staff, and distribution personnel.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggestions to improve workflows, inspection processes, and compliance.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certifications and competencies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in sterile processing, with demonstrated proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization procedures.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CIS) required.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and inconsistencies.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Previous experience in quality control or inspection is preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CRCST, CIS) required.
