Press Operator
Pay Rate: $23/hr.
The Press Operations Technician is expected to cross train as a multi-stilled role responsible for executing and contributing to tasks across operation, slitting, finishing, and packaging. This role ensures the timely and accurate completion of production orders in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience, strong communication capabilities, and a commitment to operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged standing and manual handling of materials.
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, leaning, climbing stairs, and repetitive tasks.
- Use of PPE as required by safety protocols.
- Work environment may include exposure to noise, paper dust, and industrial machinery.
- 3+ years in a manufacturing, printing, or packaging environment.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Key Responsibilities:
Press Operation & Laser
- Operate Hamilton printing presses according to job specifications and company procedures.
- Apply knowledge of Lithographic (Offset) and Flexographic printing methods.
- Prepare and install print plates (offset and flexo); set up numbering machines as required.
- Adjust impression and registration for optimal quality and safety.
- Monitor print quality and make necessary laser or mechanical adjustments.
- Maintain all required production documentation and ensure accurate labeling of forms and rolls.
Slitting Operations
- Request and verify paper rolls by roll number; weigh, slit, and label each roll as per schematics.
- Assign sub-roll numbers and apply labels; bag slit rolls to protect for next-stage use.
- Rewind rolls and label form counts or start/end numbers as needed.
- Dispose of scrap material properly and track for reporting purposes.
- Document all slitting activity and maintain traceability of materials.
Finishing & Packaging Operations
- Perform finishing operations on devices coming from the collators.
- Fold, restack, and prepare materials for wrapping and shipment.
- Apply accurate labels to each package before placing them into shipping cartons.
- Conduct kitting operations as required to assemble final products or components.
- Maintain documentation of all finishing work performed, ensuring traceability and quality compliance.
- Ensure that all devices and materials are labeled according to internal and customer specifications.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with cGMP standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Follow all safety and health protocols and maintain clean, organized work areas.
- Identify opportunities to reduce labor and material waste; recommend process or equipment improvements.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff to troubleshoot underperforming equipment.
- Uphold good housekeeping practices across assigned work areas.
Administrative & Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with other departments to maintain smooth production flow.
- Maintain positive employee relations and enforce company policies when acting in a lead capacity.
- Interpret and act on reports; prepare and submit required documentation to supervisors.
