Job Title: Specimen Technician - 1st Shift
Job Location: Beaufort, SC
Duration: 3+ months of Contract with (temp-to-hire)
Shift: Monday to Friday 11am – 5pm EST
Pay Rate: $17.20/Hr. On W2
Job Description:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for performing general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform specimen processing tasks including:
-
A-station processing
-
Presorting specimens
-
Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory
-
Imaging/microfilming
-
Centrifugation
-
Aliquoting specimens
-
-
Ensure all functions are completed accurately, confidently, and in a timely manner.
-
Enter data at a minimum rate of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.

Maintain knowledge of specimen types related to client-ordered tests.

Learn and comply with regulatory requirements for laboratory test ordering, which may change frequently.

Maintain productivity and quality standards within departmental completion timelines.

Communicate effectively with staff at all levels.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.
-
Follow safety, compliance, and company policies at all times.
-
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing workloads and customer demands.
Work Environment:
-
High-volume production environment with repetitive tasks.
-
Work involves handling biohazard specimens and following strict safety procedures.

May require sitting or standing for extended periods.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) may include:

Lab coat
-
Mask
-
Goggles
-
Gloves
-
Other protective gear

Schedule Requirements:
-
Majority of shifts are night shifts.

Must be available to work:

Weekends
-
Holidays
-
Overtime
-
On-call shifts (as needed)

Employees must arrive on time and remain for the full shift.

Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination.
Education:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Required Knowledge & Skills:
-
Basic computer knowledge
-
Strong data entry skills
-
Excellent understanding of spoken and written English

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to adapt to changing processes and requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing
-
Familiarity with medical terminology
-
Previous laboratory or hospital experience
-
Experience in a production environment
-
Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) preferred.
