Job Title: Specimen Technician (SPT I)
Job Location: Cleveland, OH
Job Duration: 2-3 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: Wednesday - Sunday, 7:00am - 3:30pm EST
Payrate: $17.20 - $18.00/hr. on w2
Job Summary:
- The Specimen Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for performing essential support functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
- This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
- The SPT I performs a variety of tasks, which may include but are not limited to:
- A-Station processing.
- Presort operations.
- Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Imaging/microfilming.
- Centrifugation.
- Aliquoting.
- High-volume data entry.
- All tasks must be completed with confidence, precision, and timeliness.
- The role requires the ability to understand specimen types, test codes, and compliance regulations associated with laboratory testing—regulations that may change daily.
- Since customer needs can vary, flexibility and adaptability are essential.
- The position is critical to quality and customer satisfaction, and may involve exposure to varying demands, weekend shifts, holidays, on-call responsibilities, and overtime based on staffing needs.
- While most SPT I positions operate on night shift, this role is specifically for day shift.
Education:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Required Knowledge:
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing preferred.
Experience:
- No prior experience required.
- Previous laboratory or hospital lab experience preferred.
- Medical background and familiarity with clinical laboratory terminology is a plus.
- Experience in a production environment is highly desirable.
Work Environment & Expectations:
- Production-driven environment with strict productivity and quality standards.
- Ability to enter at least 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
- Work performed in a biohazard environment following strict safety protocols.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
- Communicates professionally with staff at all levels.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Adheres to company core values, safety policies, and compliance procedures.
- Adaptable to frequent changes in workflow or priorities.
