Phlebotomist II
Job Location: Marion IL
Job Duration: 3+ months (Possibilities of Extension)
Shift: M-F 8a-4:30p
Pay range - $24/hr - $25/hr
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the representative and primary point of contact for patients visiting our facilities—either for routine health needs or important diagnostic decisions. This role includes obtaining high-quality blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory testing, and ensuring a positive and professional patient experience. The PSR II must perform all duties with accuracy, safety, and adherence to established procedures while demonstrating leadership behaviors, strong communication skills, and respect for confidentiality.
This position may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations

Perform all assigned tasks accurately, efficiently, and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.

Follow all established practices, procedures, and quality standards.
Specimen Collection & Processing

Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection confidently and skillfully.

Execute venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, and geriatric blood draws with high accuracy.

Verify patient demographics, obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture, and ensure accurate labeling in the patient’s presence.

Prepare, handle, and process specimens following established protocols.
Documentation & Records

Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records and documentation.

Ensure all documentation follows confidentiality and accuracy standards.
Customer Service & Professionalism

Create an atmosphere of trust, comfort, and confidence for patients.

Explain procedures clearly and compassionately.

Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, colleagues, and the community.

Job Requirements
Technical & Professional Skills

Ability to produce high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.

Competent with keyboarding and data entry.
Work Style & Expectations

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Must make decisions using established procedures and exercise sound judgment.

Flexible and available for weekends, holidays, on-call duties, and overtime.

Willing to travel and work at multiple locations with minimal notice.

Transportation

Reliable transportation required.

Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if applicable).
Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent — REQUIRED
Work Experience

3 years phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
