Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Ward Hill, MA
Duration: 12+ Months
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Rate: $26/hr on W2
Position Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of general maintenance, repair, and facilities support tasks to ensure smooth and compliant operation of the site. The role includes hands-on work, contractor oversight, preventative maintenance, and support for minor projects and equipment installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general handyman repairs to fixtures, fittings, and furniture.
- Conduct Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) inspections (e.g., lighting, HVAC filters, emergency equipment).
- Supervise on-site contractors, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and permit-to-work protocols.
- Operate the permit-to-work system for all maintenance and construction activities.
- Support small-scale installations, refurbishments, and project setups.
- Assist with equipment setup, relocation, and removal as needed.
- Monitor building systems and report issues via the FM Helpdesk.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards; contribute to risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and contractor activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in general building maintenance or handyman tasks within facilities or commercial settings.
- Knowledge of contractor management and safe systems of work.
- Ability to perform scheduled PPMs using tools and inspection checklists.
- Strong understanding of safety practices and facilities compliance.
- Effective communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic technical certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance Operations or equivalent).
- Experience supporting office or industrial facilities projects.
- Familiarity with FM Helpdesk and CAFM systems.
