Job Title: Surgical Scheduling Coordinator
Location: New York, NY
Contract Type: 5 months
Shift Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day, 5 days/week)
Hourly rate: $21/hour negotiable
Role Overview:
The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordination of all Operating Room (OR) surgeries and procedures. This includes verifying patient information, securing pre-authorizations, scheduling procedures and post-operative appointments, and facilitating communication between surgeons and referring physicians. The role requires familiarity with Epic and involves managing the surgical schedules of four providers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule all OR surgeries and procedures.
- Manage front office workflow to optimize service delivery.
- Verify patient demographics and obtain insurance pre-certifications.
- Secure medical clearance for patients.
- Resolve patient inquiries and explain policies and procedures.
- Confirm surgeries one day prior to the scheduled procedure.
- Schedule post-operative follow-up appointments.
- Serve as liaison between surgeons and referring physicians for clinical data exchange and scheduling.
- Train and mentor other Surgical Scheduling Coordinators or junior staff.
- Distribute required documentation to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Record hospital reservations and pre-admit data in the CERNER system.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree

Preferred:
- Certificate in Medical Technology
- Certificate in ICD-9
- Certificate in CPT Coding
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of surgical scheduling experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with Epic system
