Specimen Technician
Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Shift: Monday-Friday 11pm-7:30am with Saturday rotation.
Duration: 5 months
Pay Range: $24.15/hr. on w2
Job Summary:
The SPT I provides essential support in specimen processing, focusing on data entry, sample handling, and lab preparation. Tasks include sorting, centrifuging, aliquoting, imaging, and transporting specimens. Accuracy, speed, and adherence to compliance standards are critical.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform high-volume data entry (6,000+ keystrokes/hour)

Process and prepare lab specimens

Follow safety and biohazard protocols

Adapt to daily workflow changes and compliance updates

Collaborate effectively with lab staff

Maintain a clean, organized workspace
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic computer skills; data entry experience required

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Ability to sit/stand for extended periods

Flexible to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call as needed
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in lab, medical, or production settings

Knowledge of medical terminology and specimen types
