Position Summary:
The Pharmacist works in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy to compound and dispense medications, supervise technical staff, and support safe and effective drug therapy in accordance with professional standards. This role provides pharmaceutical care for adult and geriatric patients (ages 18 and older), offering consultative services to medical and clinical staff, participating in performance improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Interpret and verify medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and therapeutic effectiveness.

Compound and dispense medications following aseptic techniques.

Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff.

Monitor and manage drug therapy for adult and geriatric patients, including dosage adjustments based on renal function, age, weight, etc.

Review patient profiles to prevent therapeutic duplication, drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions.

Maintain security of the pharmacy and controlled substances.

Accurately label and package medications, including unit-dose preparation.

Perform and document pharmacokinetic dosing services; write progress notes as per protocol.

Participate in educational programs and provide drug-related information to hospital personnel.

Generate reports (e.g., IV picks, production reports) and perform required backup procedures.

Float between two facilities depending on business needs.

Licensure:

Active Colorado Board of Pharmacy (BOP) license

BLS Certification through the American Heart Association

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years recent hospital pharmacy experience preferred
