Job Title: Travel - Medical Laboratory Technician
Job Location: Erie, PA
Job Duration: 6+ months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: 2nd shift, 3:00 PM, with rotating weekends.
Pay Rate: $50.00 - $56.66/hr. on W2
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Technician (Traveler) to join our team. In this role, you will perform routine laboratory tests under the guidance of Medical Technologists and the Laboratory Supervisor. You will set up and monitor automated testing procedures, perform manual testing requiring judgment, and operate pre-calibrated or automated lab devices.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Technician (Traveler) to join our team. In this role, you will perform routine laboratory tests under the guidance of Medical Technologists and the Laboratory Supervisor. You will set up and monitor automated testing procedures, perform manual testing requiring judgment, and operate pre-calibrated or automated lab devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen handling, processing, testing, and reporting in accordance with lab procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proficiency testing samples are treated the same as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review/release test results.
- Adhere to all CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow quality control policies, documenting all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance or escalate to senior staff as needed.
- Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance standards.
- Report critical results to clients following department procedures.
- Answer questions from clients or lab personnel as required.
- Maintain complete testing records and the general appearance of the department.
- Track reagent/test kit receipt dates, expiration dates, and opened dates.
- Train on and review new procedures regularly.
- Attend monthly departmental and additional training/educational sessions.
- Participate in all safety training, know the location of safety manuals, and use safety equipment properly.
- Perform moderate complexity testing as needed with on-site training.
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Education: BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology preferred, or associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical technology.
- Experience: 1–3 years of clinical lab experience preferred.
- Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple procedures simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with other departments.
- Excellent customer service skills: client contact may be required.
- Must maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
