Job Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons. The role involves assisting with patient care, managing medical office tasks, and ensuring smooth operations within the clinic to deliver high-quality patient care. Candidates must be able to float to other facilities as needed.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Support:
    • Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.
    • Assist patients with mobility, dressing, and room preparation.
    • Take vital signs, assist with procedures, and relay instructions.
    • Prepare exam rooms and instruments following sterilization standards.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Enter orders into EMR and prepare prescription refill requests.
    • Manage patient charts, medical records, lab/x-ray reports, and referrals.
    • Schedule appointments, procedures, surgeries, and verify insurance information.
    • Maintain inventory and stock of medical supplies; check expiration dates.
    • Maintain logs for medications, sterilization processes, crash carts, and testing.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Follow infection control, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hospital safety policies.
    • Maintain secure, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Other Duties:
    • Provide coverage across other facilities as needed.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
       
Qualifications & Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a medical assistant.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Phlebotomy experience desirable.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills; able to work effectively with multicultural patients.
