Job Description:
The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires a strong data entry background. Functions performed may include, but are not limited to:

Job Description:
The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires a strong data entry background. Functions performed may include, but are not limited to:
- A-station processing
- Presorting specimens
- Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory
- Imaging and microfilming
- Centrifugation and aliquoting
- Learn and understand specimen types related to tests ordered by clients.
- Comply with dynamic regulations related to test ordering.
- Maintain high-quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
Department Environment:
- Production-focused with emphasis on productivity, quality standards, and departmental completion times.
- Requires data entry skills capable of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour.
- Work performed in a biohazard environment with strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Clear and effective communication with all levels of staff.
- Adherence to core values, safety, and compliance policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive work environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and specimen processing.
- No experience required; previous laboratory experience preferred.
- Medical background preferred, including knowledge of medical terminology. relevant to clinical laboratories.
- Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience in a production environment preferred.
