Job Title: Phlebotomist III – Float
Location: Eldersburg, MD
Shift/Time Zone: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, All Days (Flexible/Rotating)
Hours/Week: 40 hours

Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist III – Float serves as a critical representative of Quest Diagnostics, providing high-quality phlebotomy services while delivering an exceptional patient experience. This role requires advanced phlebotomy skills and the flexibility to float across multiple locations and settings, including Patient Service Centers (PSCs), In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP), long-term care facilities, and mobile environments. The Phlebotomist III – Float ensures timely and accurate specimen collection, acts as a mentor and leader to site staff, and may serve as the point of contact for operational needs on site.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform skilled venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Travel and provide coverage at multiple sites and across varied roles as required by business needs.

Create a welcoming and professional environment for patients, explaining procedures and establishing trust.

Support site leadership by directing daily activities and mentoring other staff as needed.

Act as onboarding liaison and resource advisor for new employees and clients.

Ensure compliance with all quality, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Collaborate with other departments including Sales, IT, Billing, Logistics, and Lab Services for clients with high complexity or volume.

Maintain complete and accurate records of specimen collection and patient interactions.

Handle multiple priorities efficiently in high-volume settings.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Medical training preferred (e.g., Medical Assistant or Paramedic).

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary draws.

At least 3 years working in a PSC or IOP setting preferred.

Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred.

Strong data entry and computer skills required.
