Job Description
Performs phlebotomy and other specimen collections. Provides clerical and receptionist support services by filing records and slides; answering the phone; making appointments; may assist patients to appropriate diagnostic area. Receives requisitions for laboratory testing and collects patient specimens such as urine, blood, etc. within required time frame. Consistently performs specimen processing using available personnel protective equipment and supplies. Displays good hygienic behavior to prevent self-inculcation and cross-contamination to self and other laboratory areas. Notifies testing personnel of patient's samples that are to be tested i.e. blood, urine, stools and cultures specimens. Ensures all patient specimens are properly labeled with time and date of collection, patient's name or LIS label on specimen. Completes clerical duties including filing, faxing, answering phones, and inputting orders into the computer
Facility Requirements:
Must have BLS certification must be attached to submission packet (Must be through the American Heart Association)
Must have 2 years recent experience in Phlebotomy with Hospital Lab experience
Shifts will be rotating shifts as needed by the department
