Job Title: Technician II
Job Location: Fargo, ND
Job Duration: 24 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

PPE Required: Metatarsal shoes on Day 1

Job Summary:

  • Support design engineering on prototype bring-up, PCB assembly troubleshooting, testing, and debugging.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 60-70% of Job function is on the PC.
  • TAKAYA APT-1600FD software used to create the program for the flying probe.
  • Perform inspection, testing, and failure analysis as necessary to determine cause of defective electronic assemblies.
  • Research, gather and summarize data for use in determining root cause.
  • Rework products per company and industry standards.
  • Build test harnesses, loads, fixtures and/or circuit boards to support product design as required.
  • Document and maintain records relating to work performed.
  • Inform supervisor and engineering of process or design problems and assist in corrective actions.
  • Conduct manual test of electronic circuits and PCBs according to engineering instructions.
  • Communicate with both internal and external customers in a professional and effective manner.
  • Create or update test documentation when required for prototype products.
  • Design and build advanced engineering test boxes.
  • Perform other associated tasks as required from their supervisor and engineers.
  • Train other personnel as required.

Education:

  • A.S. in Electronics or a two-year technical diploma, equivalent military certification, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum one year of experience in electronics, manufacturing, engineering, or a related industry; three or more years of related experience is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience troubleshooting PCB subassembly failure modes to identify root cause.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and electronic components.
  • Understanding of test equipment and methods (multimeters, client Products, etc.).
  • Ability to read engineering documents, e.g., schematics or diagrams.
  • Ability to comprehend product/process component datasheets.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble products.
  • Ability to maintain and repair lab equipment.
  • Ability to learn advanced computer applications.
  • Ability to research, tabulate, and summarize data.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Three years of hands-on experience troubleshooting PCB subassembly failure modes to identify root cause.
  • Three years of hands-on soldering experience with fine-pitch surface mount component.
  • Three years of hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, e.g., multimeters, oscilloProducts, etc.
  • Experience running and maintaining 3D printers.
  • Experience with printed circuit board layout.
  • Experience machining and modifying various materials e.g., aluminum, steel, plastics, fiber glass, etc.
  • Experience working with advanced test equipment (logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
  • Experience working with Client electronic components and systems.
  • Experience working with Client equipment and machinery.
