Job Description MPD Packaging Contractor (Oral Care)
The MPD Packaging Contractor is primarily responsible for packaging material savings projects in Oral Care. This role involves managing the complete packaging development process, from concept through implementation, while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full packaging development process, including packaging design creation, prototype development, and performance testing.
- Lead and execute packaging material qualifications at suppliers and packaging validations at client plants.
- Initiate, author, and align technical documents (protocols, reports, technical assessments/justifications).
- Manage packaging deliverables to meet project timelines.
- Troubleshoot new and existing packaging challenges involving designs, materials, and processes, providing innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Review and analyze packaging material drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with packaging suppliers, engineering, operations, and sourcing teams.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
- Partner with Engineering to optimize the packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, standardization, regionalization, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Recommend and specify efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
- Work with Manufacturing to ensure packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.
Additional Details:
- Hours/week may vary, with overall planning up to 500 hours this fiscal year (maximum of <1000 hours for Cat. 1).
- Occasional travel to U.S.-based suppliers and client plants may be required.
- Job Type IV (Level 4): Requires 10+ years of experience.
