Local Pay: $60/hr. on W2

Job Summary:
The Packaging/Materials Engineer contractor will lead packaging material savings projects within Oral Care. This role manages the entire packaging development lifecycle—from concept through implementation—ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end packaging development, including design creation, prototype development, and performance testing.
- Lead packaging material qualifications at supplier sites and validate packaging at client plants.
- Develop, author, and align technical documentation such as protocols, reports, and technical justifications.
- Ensure packaging deliverables are met within project timelines.
- Troubleshoot packaging challenges related to design, materials, and processes, delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions.
- Review and analyze packaging drawings and material specifications.
- Collaborate with packaging suppliers, engineering, operations, and sourcing teams.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in packaging materials, labor, transportation, storage, and efficiency.
- Partner with Engineering to optimize the packaging supply base focusing on cost, lead time, quality, standardization, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Recommend efficiency tools and testing methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
- Work closely with Manufacturing to optimize packaging for manufacturability.
Additional Details:
- Occasional travel to U.S.-based suppliers and client plants may be required.
- Requires 10+ years of experience in packaging engineering or related field.
