Job Title: Medical Technologist - Lab Technologist
Location: Detroit, MI 48202
Duration: 3+ Months contract (Possible Extension)
Schedule Notes: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM (5x8s, primarily Monday–Friday)
Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs routine and complex analytical procedures on blood and other body fluids or specimens. This includes both manual testing and the use of laboratory instruments and information systems.
- Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing using manual and automated techniques
- Analyze blood and other specimens accurately and efficiently
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Ensure quality control and adherence to laboratory standards
- Document and report test results in laboratory information systems
- Follow safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science
Certifications & Licensure
- Certification from a recognized national agency (ASCP or NCA)
Experience Required:
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a medical laboratory setting
- Strong technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge of lab procedures
Preferred:
- 2–3 years of relevant experience
- Experience with laboratory equipment (AU system preferred)
- Experience with Sunquest LIS and lab automation
