Job Description – Phlebotomist I
Location: Fernandina Beach, FL
Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Work Schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Rotating Saturdays: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Position Summary
The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is the frontline representative for patients visiting the facility, whether for routine testing or critical diagnostic needs. The PSR I is responsible for collecting highquality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures follow established guidelines.
This role requires building trust, providing clear communication, and offering exceptional patient care while performing phlebotomy tasks safely and accurately. The PSR I is expected to exhibit professionalism, confidentiality, and strong processfocused behaviors at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily work assignments accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection with confidence and compliance.
- Collect high-quality blood specimens, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory analysis following set procedures.
- Maintain all required logs, documentation, and records accurately.
- Promote a positive image of the company when interacting with patients, clients, and colleagues.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety while explaining procedures in a professional manner.
Job Requirements
- Ability to provide accurate, errorfree work in a fastpaced environment.
- Capability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws.
- Flexible and available to support staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, oncall, and overtime.
- Must demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to stay for the full scheduled shift.
Required Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent – REQUIRED
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training – Preferred
- Phlebotomy certification – Preferred
- Required in: California, Nevada, and Washington
Work Experience
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience – REQUIRED
- 1+ year phlebotomy experience – Preferred
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment – Preferred
- Keyboard/data entry proficiency – Required
Additional Requirements
- Resume must include home city and commute time to the job site.
- Candidates must live within 20–25 minutes of the Fernandina Beach location.
- Pay rate is based on direct phlebotomy experience listed on the resume.
- Overlapping roles cannot be counted twice.
- Candidates must have reliable personal transportation.
- Bus, rideshare (Uber, Lyft), taxi, or being dropped off does not qualify as reliable transportation.
- Must be available for all scheduled shifts, arrive on time, and remain for the full shift.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
