Pharmacy Tech I - Prior Authorization
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization
Location: Remote 100%
Working Shifts: 8-hour shifts
Pay: $20/hr - w2
Work Schedule
- Hours of Operation: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM CST (shifts assigned post-training based on business needs).
- Training Dates: December 1, 2025 – January 20, 2026, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST.
- Training Holidays: No training on December 25, 2025, and January 1, 2026.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support a high-volume inbound call center environment. This role is responsible for providing professional and courteous assistance to members, providers, and other healthcare professionals while facilitating the prior authorization process. The position involves reviewing clinical documentation, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a high volume of incoming calls from members, providers, and healthcare professionals.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while guiding callers through the prior authorization process.
- Review clinical documentation for completeness and eligibility based on established criteria.
- Accurately document all approvals and denials in a timely manner.
- Escalate clinical judgment cases and complex inquiries to a pharmacist for further evaluation.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal protocols.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician (or related healthcare role) in a high-volume call center, preferably in the medical field.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certificate or State License (preferred).
- Strong computer proficiency, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- National Pharmacy Certificate or State License (preferred).
