Central Processing Supervisor

Duties:
Position is temp only, with the possibility of extension.
Job Summary:

Responsible for managing sterile processing related functions at assigned Client locations including the Philadelphia campus and Services and Logistics Center (SLC). This individual is accountable for the management of staff within the Central Processing Department (CPD) and oversees/supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation including, but not limited to decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case cart picking, and storage processes within all set professional standards and regulations. Ensure proper operational procedures are followed by all members of the CPD team. Works closely with Client's clinical teams to support processes that are developed to reduce variation, eliminate waste, and improve the experience of patients and clinicians.
Job Responsibilities:
--Leadership and Operations:
-Oversees the day-to-day operations and staff of CPD by preparing all departmental work schedules and communicating changes in order to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are completed
-Can assess, identify, and respond to urgent/emergent requests for instruments, supplies, and equipment in an efficient and effective manner
-Conducts staff interviews, and makes hiring, disciplinary and performance management decisions in accordance with the Human Resources policies and procedures
-Assumes responsibility, in collaboration with the HLD/S team, for scheduling new employee orientation, on-the-job training, in-service education and managing the departmental quality assurance program when needed
-Participates in defined meetings with surgical services leadership to ensure that CPD operations are meeting/exceeding department expectations.
-Coordinates, assigns, and adjusts daily assignments to achieve and accomplish maximum utilization of all resources while ensuring productivity metrics are being met
-Communicates in a professional manner both verbally and in writing to all customers
-Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, meet strict deadlines, problem solve, make independent decisions, and build relationships with individuals across various disciplines/levels within the organization.
-Perform other related duties as required.
--Quality Assurance and Staff Education:
-Actively identifies and leads initiatives to address areas of opportunity to improve CPD functions
-Assist in implementing policies and procedures that support local and regional goals, standards and metrics
-Supports equipment repairs, replacements, returns, and loaner equipment transactions
-Responsible for ensuring the environment is clean, safe, and free from hazards.
-Ensure proper care and handling of all hospital property, including instrumentation, equipment, and disposable supplies. Acts as a resource to operating room staff in the proper methodology for decontamination and sterilization of items needed for immediate use.
-Working knowledge of all mechanical equipment used for sterilization and high-level disinfection.

Education:
Required Education:

-High School Diploma/GED.
Preferred Education:
-Associate's Degree.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) with the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
-Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) with The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management.

Languages:
English( Speak, Read, Write )

Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
-At least five (5) years of sterile processing technician experience.
-At least five (5) years of experience of working knowledge of all functions of the Sterile Processing department and surgical instrumentation management.
-Familiar with Microsystems instrument tracking system, SPM, or any equivalent system.
-Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
-Must be able to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment
-Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our team members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-At least two (2) years of leadership sterile processing leadership experience and/or training.
