Job Title: Smart Grid Network Analyst
Location: Tampa, FL 33619 Onsite
Duration: 6+ months contract (Possible extension)
Work Schedule: Onsite 5 days per week (5 days per week), 5 days per week, 7 am – 5 pm, 40 hours a week.
About the Role:
- This role is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and supporting Smart Grid RF (Radio Frequency) network infrastructure.
- The candidate will manage installation, performance monitoring, reliability issues, and integration of Smart Grid applications (AMI, Distribution Automation, SCADA, etc.) into the network.
Key Responsibilities:
Roles & responsibilities:
- Plan & Design (30–50%)
- Design, implement, and maintain Smart Grid RF network infrastructure.
- Maintain detailed documentation: configurations, equipment, and site records.
- Validate job plans including sequence, man-hour estimates, materials, and equipment requirements.
- Implementation & Support (40%)
- Install, configure, and provision Smart Grid RF network hardware and software.
- Monitor network performance and reliability using Network Management Systems.
- Update firmware and configurations on network equipment.
- Evaluate and test new hardware/software for the network.
- Support (20%): Monitor, troubleshoot, and document network issues.
- Implement (30%): Install/configure hardware/software; manage firmware and meter communications updates.
- Design/Plan (30%): Lead design and implementation projects; automate processes via macro scripts; define equipment/software specs.
- Lead/Consult (20%): Project leadership, consulting, cross-training peers.
- Coordination & Leadership (20%)
- Coordinate installations with departments and contract crews.
- Support storm assignments as per Tampa Electric Storm Plan.
- Provide guidance to linemen, contract linemen, and Radio Electricians.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on network implementation and maintenance & RF experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA):
- Technical competency in Smart Grid / Grid Modernization
- Network infrastructure knowledge (switching, routing, DNS/DHCP, RF networking)
- Hardware/software installation and maintenance
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or MIS
Licenses / Certifications:
- Required: At least one associate-level certification (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CWNA)
Working Conditions:
- Typical office environment; fieldwork required during upgrades and support.
- May require after-hours work for emergency problem resolution.
- Routine handling of objects up to 50 lbs; basic wiring, soldering, and equipment handling.
