Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Gainesville, FL
Duration: 7+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift:
- Monday to Friday: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Rotational Saturdays: 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Position Overview:
The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients for routine health checks or critical diagnostic needs. This role involves collecting high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established protocols. The ideal candidate will create an atmosphere of trust and confidence, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens following standard procedures.
- Accurately maintain records and documentation.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a positive image of the organization.
- Uphold confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong independent work ethic with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required).
- 1+ years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Proficiency in keyboard/data entry required.
Additional Details:
- Candidate must reside within 20–25 minutes of the job site (include home city and commute time on resume).
- Reliable personal transportation required (rideshare/public transport not acceptable).
- Must be punctual, available for scheduled shifts, and maintain consistent attendance.
- Pay rate is based on direct phlebotomy experience (refer to Southeast rate card).
