Job Title: Medical Office Assistant (MOA)
Location:
New York, NY
Contract Duration: 8 weeks
Shift: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Hours: 36 hours/week | 9 hours/day | 4 days/week
Pay Rate: $21/hour negotiable

Role Overview:
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) provides both clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons in a multi-specialty outpatient setting. This includes assisting with patient care, maintaining medical records, preparing for procedures, and supporting office operations to ensure smooth and quality patient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
  • Assist with patient care including vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist with mobility, dressing, or transfers.
  • Support physicians with procedures and relay post-visit instructions.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection.
  • Maintain exam rooms and instruments according to sterilization standards.
  • Check and log medication expiration dates and refrigeration logs.
Administrative Duties:
  • Manage and update patient charts using EMR systems.
  • Process and send medical records, lab results, and referrals.
  • Enter medical orders and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
  • Maintain inventory and re-stock medical supplies.
  • Handle appointment scheduling, registration, and insurance verification.
  • Coordinate surgery scheduling and related documentation as needed.
Compliance & Safety:
  • Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols.
  • Comply with PPE requirements and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Office Assistant (MOA) experience (not just Medical Assistant).
  • At least 3 years working as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills with multicultural patient populations.
  • Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
