Job Title: Medical Office Assistant (MOA)
Location: New York, NY
Contract Duration: 8 weeks
Shift: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Hours: 36 hours/week | 9 hours/day | 4 days/week
Pay Rate: $21/hour negotiable
Role Overview:
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) provides both clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons in a multi-specialty outpatient setting. This includes assisting with patient care, maintaining medical records, preparing for procedures, and supporting office operations to ensure smooth and quality patient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist with patient care including vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist with mobility, dressing, or transfers.
- Support physicians with procedures and relay post-visit instructions.
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection.
- Maintain exam rooms and instruments according to sterilization standards.
- Check and log medication expiration dates and refrigeration logs.
- Manage and update patient charts using EMR systems.
- Process and send medical records, lab results, and referrals.
- Enter medical orders and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
- Maintain inventory and re-stock medical supplies.
- Handle appointment scheduling, registration, and insurance verification.
- Coordinate surgery scheduling and related documentation as needed.
- Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols.
- Comply with PPE requirements and regulatory standards.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Office Assistant (MOA) experience (not just Medical Assistant).
- At least 3 years working as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Effective communication skills with multicultural patient populations.
- Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
