Job Title: Financial Counselor
Location: Manitowoc, WI, 54220
Duration: 04/13/2026 – 10/12/2026
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Schedule: 5 days/week, 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
 

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, case management, social work, or business office functions
• Strong knowledge of patient financial processes and insurance verification
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Experience with Epic (preferred)
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred

Certifications & Licensure:

• Certified Application Counselor designation (preferred)
• OR Licensed Health Insurance Agent (preferred)

Job Summary:

• Supports patients with financial hardship or self-pay status by initiating account resolution and ensuring continuity of care

Duties:

• Monitor and manage financial counselor work queues
• Ensure payment sources are secured for patient accounts
• Update patient accounting systems and resolve account issues
• Assist patients with Medicaid, insurance exchange, and financial assistance applications
• Provide cost estimates and collect deposits based on patient responsibility
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve financial issues
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
• Support open enrollment activities for insurance programs
• Maintain documentation and adhere to data storage policies
• Provide cross-coverage for team as needed
