Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).

• Assist with treatments ordered by the provider under the supervision of the provider or Registered Nurse

• Perform select clinical duties

• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts

• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations

• Perform basic clerical duties including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing

• Perform basic materials management functions including ordering and stocking supplies

• Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly work environment

• May document provider encounters, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated

• Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications

• High School diploma or equivalent OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required

• Required professional licensure/certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Required:

  • BLS Provider (American Heart Association)

  • Medical Assistant certification (any issuing authority accepted)

Complexity of Work:

• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using required personal protective equipment
