Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timings: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM; Rotational Saturday, 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing essential services to patients seeking routine health checks or critical diagnostic insights. This role involves collecting high-quality blood specimens, ensuring proper labeling and preparation for lab testing, and maintaining a professional and compassionate patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing tasks accurately and on time under supervisor direction.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Collect forensic and clinical specimens using established procedures.
- Accurately document and maintain required records.
- Build trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort during specimen collection.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and uphold confidentiality standards.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
Education & Certification:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Medical assistant or paramedic training.
- Preferred: Phlebotomy certification (Mandatory in CA, NV, and WA).
Experience:
- Required: Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
- Preferred: 1+ years of direct phlebotomy experience.
- Customer service experience in retail or healthcare settings preferred.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry is essential.
Additional Details:
- Candidates must list their home city and commute time on their resume.
- Commute time to the job site must be within 20–25 minutes.
- Reliable transportation is required (rideshare/bus not accepted).
- Punctuality and full-shift availability are mandatory.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination.
