Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Range: $91,000 – $136,000 annually

Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting server and workstation infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability across the organization. This role is critical in managing complex systems, supporting technical operations, and leading infrastructure projects that align with business and clinical goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Define and execute objectives for network servers, workstations, and applications in alignment with organizational IT strategy.

Collaborate with stakeholders, department leaders, and internal teams to ensure smooth and reliable operation of infrastructure supporting critical applications.

Lead complex infrastructure projects and act as an escalation point for high-impact technical issues.

Perform system performance tuning, hardware upgrades, resource optimization, and software patching.

Plan, design, configure, and implement server-based software/hardware with minimal network disruption.

Design and document specifications for server operations, administration, and security.

Maintain optimal performance of network hardware/software as required by vendor standards and Saint Francis Health System policies.

Provide technical planning and support for various departments and user groups.

May require off-campus support; a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance per SFHS policy are required.
Working Relationships:

Leads peers and coordinates work (no direct supervision).

Works directly with internal and external customers via phone and in-person.

Engages with healthcare professionals, staff, and senior leadership (Director level and above).
Required Qualifications:
-
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
-
OR 10 years of enterprise-level IT experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years supporting large-scale networks, servers, and workstations.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
-
Expert-level Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, including system hardening, performance tuning, and patch management.

Advanced VMware vSphere expertise; experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) preferred.

Proficiency in Ansible for configuration management and automation.
-
Experience using Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.

PowerShell scripting for Windows automation and cross-platform tasks.
-
YAML configuration and infrastructure-as-code principles.
-
Bash/Shell scripting for Linux automation.
-
Deep understanding of Windows and Linux OS, including AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, ADFS, and Azure.

Knowledge of data center operations, storage platforms, backup/recovery systems, and cloud infrastructure.

Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and interpersonal communication skills.
