Patient Registration Representative Entry Level (6-Month Assignment, Possible Extension)

Job Summary

Under general supervision, follows standard operating procedures and protocols for all bedside patient registration activities, including patient reception, face-to-face check-in, preregistration, confirmation of insurance eligibility, and cash collections. Performs new patient registration, updates registration and insurance information, and responds to inquiries from callers/customers. Advocates on behalf of callers/customers to ensure their needs are met. Serves as a welcoming first point of contact for all callers/customers by providing efficient and effective customer service while anticipating patient needs.

Required Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of experience in patient admitting, registration, insurance eligibility, or verification in a hospital or medical office setting
• Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Excellent customer service and communication skills over the phone, in person, and in writing with patients, visitors, and staff
• Ability to stand for long periods and provide instruction to others
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions

Preferred Skills & Experience

• EPIC training or experience
• Insurance payor systems experience
• ICD-10 medical terminology experience

Schedule / Shift Information

• 6-month assignment with possible extension
• Entry-level position
• Preference for candidates with medical terminology experience
• 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Every other weekend required
• Available shift: 6:00 PM 6:30 AM
• Overtime payable after 48 hours worked
