Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Location: Chicago, IL
Job Duration: 6 Months of contract
Shift: Monday–Thursday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Friday: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Rotating Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $25/hr. on W2
Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and care. This role involves collecting blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring accuracy, safety, and patient comfort throughout the process. The PSR II builds trust with patients by clearly explaining procedures and delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of a supervisor
- Collect blood specimens (venipuncture and capillary) following standard procedures
- Ensure proper patient identification and verify demographic information
- Obtain patient acknowledgment/signature to confirm correct specimen labeling
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Provide excellent customer service and create a positive patient experience
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
- Support both clinical and forensic specimen collection as needed
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public
Requirements & Skills:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high accuracy
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Sound judgment and decision-making based on established procedures
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts
- Willingness to travel between locations as needed
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in certain states)
Experience:
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric and geriatric patients)
- Experience with capillary collections
- 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred)
- Customer service experience in retail or service industry (preferred)
- Basic computer and data entry skills
