Contract Duration: 8 weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week | 8 hours/day
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
Pay Rate: $21/hour negotiable
Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant supports physicians and healthcare professionals by providing both direct patient care and administrative/clerical support in a general office environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining smooth patient flow, performing clinical tasks, managing records, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Assist with patient care: escorting, dressing, walking, transferring.
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.
- Take vital signs, collect and process specimens.
- Assist in exams and procedures; prepare instruments and rooms.
- Relay physician instructions to patients/families.
- Maintain logs for refrigeration, testing, crash cart, sterilization, etc.
- Check expiration dates and dispose of supplies per policy.
- Comply with PPE protocols and safety regulations.
- May perform proficient phlebotomy and appointment scheduling.
- Handle patient registration and insurance verification.
- Enter orders and prescription refill requests in EMR.
- File and maintain charts, records, test results, and forms.
- Order and stock medical supplies as needed.
- May assist with surgical scheduling, pre-certifications, and updating demographics.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Training: Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course

Certifications:
- Required: BLS Certification (AHA)
- Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA compliance
- Basic computer skills; MS Office (Basic level)
- Knowledge of EMR systems preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with multicultural and language-diverse patients
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Adaptability to a dynamic healthcare environment
- Level of Physical Activity: Light
- Work Environment: General office environment; occasional strenuous activity (e.g., lifting, carrying)
