Phlebotomist I
Location: Saint Augustine, FL, 32086
Duration: 4 Months
Shift: Mon-Fri 6:00a-3:00p. Mandatory Saturday rotation 7a-12p. 35-40 hours per week
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is a front-line healthcare professional responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens while providing excellent patient service. This role requires safe, accurate phlebotomy, strong communication skills, and adherence to confidentiality, safety, and procedural standards. The PSR I creates a professional and supportive environment for patients during routine and critical healthcare visits.
Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture, capillary, forensic, and clinical specimen collection according to established procedures

Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing

Accurately verify patient identity and maintain correct documentation

Explain procedures clearly to patients to promote trust and comfort

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment

Complete daily tasks accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor

Maintain required records and documentation

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence

Promote a positive company image to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public
Required Skills & Competencies

Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality

Keyboarding and data entry proficiency

Flexibility to meet changing staffing and scheduling needs
Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred)
-
Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA)
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (required)
-
1+ year of phlebotomy experience (preferred)
-
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred)

Data entry experience (required)
