Job Title: Medical Lab Technician
Job Location: Detroit, MI
Job Duration: 3 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift:

Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; 40 hours/week
Potential Flexible Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Job Summary:

• Under the direct supervision of a laboratory technologist, leader, and/or supervisor, and in accordance with defined protocols, this position performs selected laboratory procedures on blood and other body fluids or specimens.
• Work involves manual techniques and the use of laboratory instruments and information systems.
• Phlebotomy may be performed as needed.

Required Education:

• Completion of an Associate Degree program in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science.

Required Certification & Licensure:

• Certification from a recognized national certifying agency (ASCP or NCA).
• BLS (required).

Preferred Certification & Licensure:

• MLT preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 3 years of minimum experience required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge to perform laboratory functions.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Prior experience in clinical laboratory settings.
• Experience handling specimens and comfortable working in PPE.
• Significant prenatal testing exposure.
• Strong preference for candidates with sample receipt, accessioning, and lab bench experience rather than phlebotomy.

Technology:

• Epic, Sunquest CoPathPlus (LIS).

Interview:

• In-person or MS Teams (30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on location).
