Job Title: Specimen Technician- 3rd Shift
Job Location: Greensboro, NC
Job Duration: 3 Months of contract
Shift: Monday- Friday (9:00 PM – 5:30 AM EST)

Pay range: $19.78/hr. on W2

Position Summary:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. The SPT I plays a critical role in ensuring specimen integrity, accuracy, and timely processing to support high-quality patient care and customer satisfaction.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general support functions including:
    • A-station processing
    • Presorting specimens
    • Pickup and delivery of processed specimens
    • Imaging/microfilming
    • Centrifugation and aliquoting
  • Ensure all tasks are completed with accuracy, efficiency, and within established turnaround times
  • Maintain a high level of organization while handling multiple specimen types and test requirements
  • Accurately perform high-volume data entry (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour)
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and regulatory guidelines, including adapting to frequent updates
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet changing workflow demands and customer needs


Work Environment & Requirements:

  • Production-based laboratory environment with emphasis on productivity and quality standards
  • Exposure to biohazard materials; adherence to safety protocols required
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Must be available for night shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed


Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Previous laboratory, hospital, or production environment experience
