Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Floater
Job Location: Decatur, IL
Job Duration: 5-6 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 6:00pm, 8 hr. shifts
Payrate: $28.00/ hr. on w2
Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative III (PSR III) serves as the face of the company to patients, supporting both routine health services and life-defining health decisions.
- The PSR III collects and prepares blood specimens for laboratory testing while following established practices and procedures.
- This role requires building trust and confidence with patients, performing phlebotomy safely and accurately, and demonstrating leadership and process excellence.
- Assignments may include doctor's offices, patient service centers, or other locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signatures to ensure specimen labeling accuracy.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Exhibit leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and patient information accuracy.
- Travel to multiple locations as needed and cover Patient Service Center/In-Office Phlebotomy assignments with minimal notice.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Flexible and available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Adherence to company policies, dress code, safety protocols, and guiding principles.
- Sound judgment in decision-making based on established procedures.
- Superior customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Knowledge of the business and ability to adapt to change.
Additional Requirements:
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Flexible to work across multiple locations with short notice.
- Ability to train at various locations depending on trainer availability.
