Certified Medical Coder – Inpatient

Job Title: Certified Medical Coder – Inpatient
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11203
Duration: 3+ months of contract with possible extensions

Shift Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Schedule Notes:  The position will convert to remote after training. | On Call Required: Yes
Pay Range: $35 - $38/hr. on W2
 
Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AHIMA credentials including RHIA or RHIT and/or CCP or CCS.

 
Required Skills & Experience:

• Three years of experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10.
• Inpatient and Emergency Department coding experience.
• Proficiency with ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, encoder tools, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of coding guidelines, payor guidelines, and federal billing guidelines.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
• Ability to research coding-related issues.
• Competence in coder training.
• Experience with 3M/HDS coding application.

 
Duties:

• Perform medical coding in an acute care setting.
• Apply coding guidelines, payor guidelines, and federal billing guidelines.
• Research and resolve coding-related issues.
• Support coder training activities.
